Held in Kolding, Denmark and led by Cordy Swope of IDEO (Germany) and Barnabas Wetton of the Kolding School of Design (Denmark)
The International DesignCamp 2010 was held in Kolding, Denmark and included 38 students from 12 schools and 10 countries. Groups of students were given the task to develop insights to increase the use of public transportation and communicate the results through non-precious prototype models. The Design Thinking Approach was used throughout the course.
A Syrian, an Italian and an American (me), (one fantastic team) worked together and came up with the 'Kaleidovogn' (a combination of kaleido and the Danish word for train car or wagon, 'vogn'). The specially designed train car gave passengers an option of changing their boring daily commute into a more unique experience—much like seeing the world through a kaleidoscope. It was our way of answering the question 'How might we make time spent on the train more delightful and enjoyable.' Through various seating options, reflective geometric patterns on the ceiling and the passengers' various colors of clothing, looking up created a Kaleidoscope effect and a unique perspective for every commute.
